This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +4 more states.
• Oversee and assist in the delivery of physical design projects for substations.
• Guarantee technical excellence and timely execution of projects.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external clients to comprehend needs and align expectations.
• Conduct QA/QC reviews on physical design packages for substations.
• Interpret, design, and evaluate one-lines, three-lines, plan-and-section views, grounding layouts, and foundation designs.
• Generate and validate bills of materials for substation physical components.
• Perform site visits at client locations to collect data, confirm designs, and facilitate project implementation.
• Adhere to quality control measures and safe work practices.
• Ensure adherence to project scope, timeline, and budget.
• Collaborate as part of a design team that includes engineers, designers, and CAD technicians.
• Apply client standards to execute design implementations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Over 8 years of experience in substation physical design.
• Proficient in conducting grounding studies, lightning protection assessments, and lighting studies.
• Capable of communicating effectively and professionally with internal teams and clients.
• Skilled in meeting deadlines and maintaining organization in fast-paced or high-pressure environments.
• Able to work collaboratively in a team setting and provide leadership when necessary.
• Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
• Strong analytical skills and adept at engineering problem-solving.
• High level of computer proficiency and comfort with engineering tools and software.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and client locations as required.
• Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification (preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) License (preferred).
• Familiarity with protection and control design (preferred).
• Experience with bus calculations (preferred).
• Proficient in WinIGS or CDEGS (preferred).
• Master’s degree in a related field (preferred).
