Lead Software Platform Engineer

📋 Description

• Architect and enhance our cloud-native platform and services to facilitate high-throughput, low-latency data processing patterns, along with customer-facing features, while designing the platform to fulfill scalability needs.

• Create scalable, distributed systems that enable complex functionalities such as authentication and authorization, data lifecycle management, metadata management, operational intelligence, and real-time event processing.

• Advance the authorization service in line with modern identity standards and customer-configurable, fine-grained access models that can scale without requiring a release for each new role, including authorization for non-human identities (service-to-service, AI agents, MCP-based tooling).

• Develop systems that capture and enforce structured metadata during ingestion and deliver it through clean service contracts; comprehend the distinction between platform metadata plumbing and the semantic/ontology layer, while collaborating effectively across that boundary.

• Establish governance primitives for a regulated setting — compliance-grade audit trails, dataset-level access controls, and approval/eSignature workflows.

• Work alongside engineering and product teams to provide infrastructure that underpins new services, customer-facing applications, and high-volume data processing tasks.

• Create and manage infrastructure-as-code (e.g., CloudFormation, AWS CDK) to automate, standardize, and secure deployments, facilitating online upgrades and on-demand infrastructure allocation.

• Improve observability and monitoring to guarantee reliability, cost efficiency, and swift incident response.

• Advocate for best practices in distributed system design, scalability, and performance optimization, while sharing architectural insights through design reviews and technical documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a demonstrated ability to design, build, and scale distributed, cloud-native backend services and platforms in production environments.

• Proven experience as a technical leader or architect, making crucial decisions regarding system design, scalability, performance, and cost optimization.

• Strong expertise in API-first design, including REST, GraphQL, and OpenAPI specifications, crafting APIs that are scalable, secure, versioned, and extensible.

• High proficiency in TypeScript and Python, with an emphasis on creating highly performant backend services.

• In-depth knowledge of AWS cloud services and architecture, including extensive experience with core services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, IAM, S3) and advanced data and messaging tools such as SQS, Kinesis, Kafka, and EventBridge.

• Expert understanding of infrastructure-as-code frameworks such as CloudFormation and CDK, CI/CD pipelines, and strong opinions on production deployment strategies across numerous platforms.

• Comprehensive knowledge of observability best practices, encompassing monitoring, alerting, and distributed tracing for SLI/SLO/SLA design.

• Ability to clearly articulate ideas, persuasively present findings, and foster rapport with clients and team members.

• Strong collaborative skills and the capacity to partner effectively with cross-functional teams.
