Principal Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a technical cornerstone within the Platform Engineering Team, influencing architectural choices, spearheading intricate projects, and elevating our infrastructure development and operation standards.

• Operate at the crossroads of significant individual contribution and technical guidance: engage hands-on in tasks while also shaping the team's problem-solving approaches, mentoring engineers, and collaborating across functions to ensure our systems are dependable, secure, and scalable.

• Direct the design and execution of scalable, reliable, and secure system architecture throughout the platform.

• Recognize and implement systemic enhancements, proactively identifying technical debt, reliability issues, and modernization opportunities.

• Manage and enhance cloud infrastructure, networking, and database systems to ensure high availability and performance.

• Establish and oversee security protocols to safeguard systems against vulnerabilities and uphold compliance with relevant standards.

• Administer and continuously optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and efficient software deployments.

• Partner with cross-functional teams to sustain consistent and reproducible development environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure management, or a related role, with a proven history of leading complex technical projects from inception to completion.

• Demonstrated capability in owning and advancing system architecture; not merely maintaining existing infrastructure but significantly enhancing it.

• Professional experience in building APIs, crafting production-grade scripts, and making meaningful contributions to shared codebases beyond configuration and deployment tasks.

• Established ability to influence technical direction and mentor engineers without direct authority.

• Experience in collaborating with and presenting to non-technical stakeholders, translating infrastructure needs into business language.

• Extensive expertise in cloud infrastructure, networking, and/or database management.

• Strong technical knowledge in cloud services, networking, and/or database management.

• Comprehensive understanding of security protocols, compliance frameworks, and operational best practices.

• Advanced experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).

• Solid understanding of industry standards and compliance requirements, including ISO, SOC, or other pertinent certifications.

• Preferred: Experience with Elasticsearch and SQL, for operational reporting and data visibility.

• Preferred: Experience with AI/ML tools, LLM integrations, or cross-functional AI enablement initiatives.
