Lead Software Engineer – Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Act as the technical lead for your designated area or service within the retail service cloud, defining architectural direction and ensuring quality standards are upheld.

• Develop, construct, and deploy features — engaging in coding activities daily alongside your team.

• Detect and address technical issues across the entire stack, from profiling and refactoring to scaling the platform effectively.

• Upgrade outdated code and services with modern, maintainable solutions, while optimizing the overall technology stack.

• Create frameworks and reusable patterns for future projects throughout the portfolio.

• Strategize and communicate product roadmaps, manage sprint tickets, and assertively push back on requests when technical trade-offs necessitate it.

• Guide junior engineers through code reviews, collaborative programming, and hands-on problem-solving sessions.

• Contribute to team growth by enhancing developer productivity and participating in hiring decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience with TypeScript/JavaScript, React, and Node.js.

• Skilled in API Gateway, AWS Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB with practical production experience.

• Familiarity with IAM and CloudWatch for troubleshooting and implementing least-privilege designs.

• Proficient in Python and Django or similar server-side frameworks.

• Proven history of taking ownership of a product or service area from a technical standpoint — including architectural decisions, code quality, and delivery results.

• Demonstrated capacity to mentor and uplift other engineers while remaining an impactful individual contributor.

• Experience in replacing or modernizing legacy systems within a production environment.

• Ability to manage competing priorities, plan sprints, and convey technical details to non-technical stakeholders comfortably.

• Strong views on code quality and engineering best practices, with enough flexibility to collaboratively identify the best solutions.
