Lead Software Engineer, Content Ingestion

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance high-throughput data pipelines that convert and refine large amounts of unstructured content into organized and enriched datasets.

• Lead the technical strategy and architectural choices for ingestion systems, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and maintainable over the long term.

• Enhance data quality, accuracy, and enrichment processes to support downstream systems like Search and Data Science.

• Construct and manage distributed, event-driven systems and streaming pipelines with robust observability and fault tolerance.

• Collaborate across departments with Product, Data Science, Search, and Platform teams to provide high-quality data that fuels customer-facing features.

• Guide and mentor engineers through code reviews, technical advice, and knowledge sharing, raising the overall standard of engineering.

• Recognize and spearhead high-impact technical initiatives, balancing the speed of delivery with system stability and long-term health.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional experience as a software engineer.

• Proven experience in designing, building, and managing distributed systems, data pipelines, or event-driven architectures at scale.

• Strong expertise in Python or another comparable backend programming language.

• Experience in developing and maintaining reliable, observable, and scalable microservices.

• Familiarity with streaming technologies like Kafka, Kinesis, or similar systems.

• Proficient with APIs and service communication patterns, including gRPC and Protocol Buffers.

• Experience with large-scale data systems or high-throughput SaaS platforms.

• Expertise in relational or search databases such as MySQL, Postgres, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch.

• Experience in making technical trade-offs in distributed systems concerning performance, reliability, and maintainability.
