• Oversee and execute all technical components related to Electric Substation SCADA and telecom system design outputs.
• Create functional design specifications for intricate SCADA and Telecom Systems.
• Assess and coordinate detailed designs provided by vendors and manufacturers.
• Ensure adherence to NERC CIP regulations and relevant cybersecurity standards in design.
• Collaborate on SCADA and telecom designs with other engineering disciplines.
• Develop procedures for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Generate engineering estimates for telecom and SCADA systems.
• Liaise with the Project Engineering Manager to address engineering and design issues.
• Mentor and share expertise with junior engineers.
• Contribute to enhancements in design procedures, standards formulation, quality, and productivity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Information Technology, or Telecommunication engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of ten (10+) years of relevant experience, including three years in Utility, Renewable, or Industrial High Voltage (HV) & Extra High Voltage (EHV) substation SCADA and telecom systems design.
• Proficient in both written and spoken English.
• Willingness and ability to travel 20% of the time, including internationally, while adhering to all relevant company travel and tax policies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to function effectively in a team setting.
• Self-driven with exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
• Strong presence when interacting with customers.
• Proven knowledge of NERC-CIP standards and cybersecurity guidelines (IEC 62443).
• Demonstrated expertise in standard SCADA network architecture (HMIs, Gateways, RTUs) and protocols (OPC, DNP3, etc.) applicable to substation projects.
• Experience in the design and implementation of telecom networks for Offshore Wind or Oil & Gas Platforms.
• Background in constructing scalable and highly available distributed networks.
• Familiarity with IEC 61850-based Digital Substations (PRP, HSR, RSTP) and cybersecurity devices (VPN, Firewall, Router, NIDS, etc.) from various manufacturers.
• Knowledge of Telecom equipment and standards (MPLS, Multiplexer, WAN, LTE, 4G), General & Emergency Alarm systems, telecom monitoring systems, and Marine communications.
• Understanding of US Electric Utility customer design and construction standards, as well as industry codes and standards such as NEC, ANSI, NERC-CIP.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer, with readiness to act as the engineer of record or the intent to obtain certification within two years.
