This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Take charge of, maintain, and enhance automated testing pipelines for media websites and mobile applications.
• Develop, update, and sustain automated tests utilizing Playwright or comparable frameworks.
• Enhance test reliability, minimize flaky tests, and optimize test execution durations.
• Maintain and improve CI test workflows through GitHub Actions.
• Broaden automated coverage for essential user flows and high-risk product functionalities.
• Set standards for writing, reviewing, and organizing automated tests.
• Work in collaboration with Engineering to ensure applications are testable.
• Examine failed test runs and coordinate solutions with Engineering.
• Define and enhance QA processes for web and mobile products.
• Partner with Engineering leads on release quality standards and defect triage.
• Develop practical QA guidelines for feature validation and release preparedness.
• Oversee, support, and mentor the current manual QA tester.
• Over 5 years of professional QA experience, including hands-on testing of web applications.
• More than 3 years of experience in building and maintaining automated test suites for production applications.
• At least 2 years of experience with modern browser automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
• Playwright experience is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 1 year in a leadership role within QA, mentoring QA testers, managing QA execution, or overseeing QA processes within a product or engineering team.
• Proficient in writing or maintaining automated tests in JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with test case management tools like Testiny, TestRail, Zephyr, or similar.
• Knowledge of cross-browser and cross-device testing tools such as Sauce Labs, BrowserStack, or similar.
• Solid understanding of regression testing, smoke testing, exploratory testing, release validation, and defect lifecycle management.
• Capability to troubleshoot failed automated tests and differentiate between test issues, environment issues, and application defects.
• Experience in direct collaboration with Engineering, Product, and Design teams.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate QA risks, test coverage gaps, and release concerns.
• Ability to work independently and establish structure within a growing QA function.
