Lead QA Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Actively engage as a member of a Scrum product team, contributing approximately 50% hands-on effort.

• Conduct requirements analysis, design tests, and perform both manual and automated testing for backend/API, UI, integrations, message queues, and intricate business flows.

• Create and sustain comprehensive test documentation.

• Automate test cases and enhance regression coverage utilizing the existing Python-based framework.

• Manage and extend the test automation framework, incorporating mocks, test data, CI/CD integration, and reporting mechanisms.

• Evaluate failed test executions, carry out root cause analysis (RCA), document defects, and contribute to elevating product quality within the team.

• Engage in release activities, smoke testing, production validation, and post-release monitoring.

• Lead the QA technical direction for the team and assist in scaling consistent QA practices throughout the Back Office Domain.

• Enhance QA processes, quality gates, automation strategies, and delivery confidence in collaboration with QA, Development, DevOps, Product, and Engineering Managers.

• Mentor QA engineers, provide support during code/test case reviews, and assist in advancing QA engineering maturity within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in Quality Assurance, encompassing both manual and automated testing.

• Background as a QA Lead, QA Tech Lead, Senior FullStack QA, Automation Lead, or a comparable role.

• Significant experience with Python-based test automation.

• Expertise in Pytest and API/backend automation.

• Familiarity with Playwright or equivalent UI automation tools.

• Experience with both functional and non-functional testing methodologies.

• Strong grasp of QA methodologies, testing principles, the test pyramid, risk-based testing, and strategies for test coverage.

• Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from requirements analysis to deployment and production monitoring.

• Experience in REST API testing, message queues, and third-party integrations.

• Proficient with CI/CD systems and the integration of test automation into pipelines.

• Familiarity with Allure TestOps or similar test management and reporting tools.

• Experience with observability and troubleshooting tools such as Sentry, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, or similar platforms.

• Proficient SQL skills.

• Demonstrated independence, proactivity, ownership, and strong communication abilities.

• Quick adaptability to learn new concepts.

• Proficient in spoken and written English and Russian.
