Lead QA Automation

Posted Jun 30

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the automation framework throughout the portfolio: encompassing structure, conventions, CI integration, and scalability.

• Make decisions regarding tooling and architecture — you will lead the direction and be responsible for the outcomes.

• Establish new automation foundations on greenfield projects and elevate the standards of existing ones.

• Conduct code reviews that set a benchmark, rather than just fulfilling a requirement.

• Determine what needs to be tested, the depth of testing, and the associated trade-offs across multiple product surfaces at once.

• Design coverage based on requirements: including decomposition, edge cases, environments, and failure modes — rather than merely automating provided cases.

• Represent QA during sprint planning, architecture discussions, and cross-team meetings.

• Negotiate project scope and timelines with product and engineering teams when quality risks are not adequately addressed.

• Assess and enhance QA and SDLC processes — if something is inefficient or ambiguous, take the initiative to resolve it.

• Engage in the hiring process as the team expands — evaluating candidates, conducting technical interviews, and helping to establish performance standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in test automation with Playwright and TypeScript.

• Proven track record of building automation infrastructure from the ground up and enhancing existing systems — comfortable with both scenarios.

• You design test coverage meticulously — including decomposition, edge cases, data scenarios, and failure modes — and can articulate the reasoning behind the approach taken.

• You have made architectural decisions and can substantiate your reasoning with evidence that others can understand.

• You have advocated for holding a release when quality standards were not met — supported by data rather than mere conviction.

• You communicate quality risks candidly, without downplaying them for the audience.

• Your estimates are precise; when they are not, you acknowledge this early and make necessary adjustments.

• You have enhanced the quality of the engineers around you — through reviews, constructive feedback, or direct mentorship.

🏝️ Benefits

• Employees (and their families) can participate in the Company’s comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.

• Employees are also eligible for Basic and Supplemental Life Insurance, as well as Short and Long-Term Disability coverage.

• All employees (regardless of hours worked) enjoy immediate access to the Company’s Employee Assistance Program and wellness initiatives—no enrollment is necessary.

• Employees can take part in the Company’s 401K plan, which includes matching contributions from the Company.
