Lead Python Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Lead the design and development of software solutions for commercial and government clients utilizing Python and frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.

• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to foster professional growth within the team.

• Collaborate closely with clients and stakeholders to ensure that technical solutions align with business objectives.

• Ensure adherence to best practices in coding, architecture, and Agile methodologies.

• Conduct code reviews and deliver constructive feedback to uphold high standards of code quality.

• Advocate for the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance project outcomes.

• Drive initiatives for continuous improvement across teams and projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in software development, with a robust technical foundation.

• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with Python frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.

• Experience in microservices architecture, containerization using Docker and Kubernetes, and cloud platforms like Azure and AWS.

• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and implementation.

• Solid grasp of object-oriented methodologies, design patterns, and testing strategies.

• In-depth knowledge of database design, ORMs such as SQLAlchemy or Django, and both SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Strong understanding of secure programming practices.

• Proficient in Git-based workflows and managing the software development lifecycle.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.

• Capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience in leading teams and mentoring developers within a consulting or technical environment.

• Preferred: Understanding of trunk-based development practices, including feature flags.

• Preferred: Knowledge of application observability instrumentation.

• Preferred: Experience with DevOps and Continuous Delivery tools such as Jenkins, Harness, GitLab CI/CD, AWS Lambda, or Terraform.

• Preferred: Familiarity with GenAI productivity tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and GitHub Copilot.

• Preferred: Experience with data engineering tools such as Pandas, NumPy, Spark, and Airflow.
