This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver Protection and Control Engineering and Consulting services across Transmission, Distribution, and Industrial sectors in the United States and Canada.
• Develop and implement sophisticated protection solutions for generation, transmission, and distribution networks.
• Engage in the design and creation of microgrid solutions, focusing on power flow optimization and dispatching algorithms.
• Conduct engineering studies and analyses, including short circuit assessments, load flow evaluations, ground grid design, lightning protection, insulation coordination, arc-flash, and protective device coordination studies.
• Generate relay setting files, including the programming of Protection and Control Elements, Control Logic, and Communication settings for both GE and third-party protective relays.
• Test tailored Protection and Control solutions both in the lab and at customer sites.
• Model and perform power system simulations utilizing the RTDS simulator or equivalent tools.
• Provide factory acceptance test plans and conduct testing services for customer oversight.
• Organize site acceptance testing and offer field support throughout the commissioning of new applications.
• Assist in the development of software tools to streamline the engineering process both internally and with utility partners.
• Take part in project meetings alongside project managers and customers for technical discussions.
• Report to the Grid Automation North America Operations Director as a member of the regional Projects and Services execution team.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a focus on power systems.
• A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the design, study, and analysis of electric power systems.
• Proficient knowledge of power system steady-state and transient analysis, fault studies, and protection theory.
• Understanding of symmetrical components.
• Must be willing to represent the company and apply for permits to facilitate engineering services as required.
• Hands-on experience with study software and power system tools such as Mathcad, MATLAB, ASPEN, CAPE, SKM, CDEGS, WinIGS, or ETAP.
• Familiarity with substation communication protocols including IEC 61850, DNP, and Modbus.
• Knowledge or practical experience with system commissioning and testing, including Doble / Omicron test equipment or similar devices.
• Technical expertise to manage projects, identify opportunities, and draft SOW proposals.
• Capability to estimate engineering efforts for customer proposals and projects.
• Competent in technical report writing, with proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
• Strong communication abilities, encompassing technical writing and presentation skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Professional engineering accreditation is advantageous but not mandatory.
