
Lead Program Officer, Jurisdictional REDD+ Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Singapore.
• Identifying opportunities to enhance the VCS Program's REDD+ and JNR requirements and methodologies, which includes engaging with external stakeholders and internal technical teams.
• Executing updates and enhancements in collaboration with the VCS Program Development staff, while incorporating feedback from Verra’s Project Management Department (PMD) and expert consultants.
• Assisting in the maintenance and updates of Verra’s consolidated REDD methodology, VM0048, ensuring it aligns with the JNR Framework.
• Partnering with Verra’s Communications and Engagement Team to bolster Verra’s forest carbon outreach and communications strategy, which includes developing and implementing capacity-building sessions, outreach to governments, and engaging investors.
• Providing guidance to stakeholders regarding Verra’s methodologies and technical requirements for JNR programs.
• Offering support to PMD on technical matters related to REDD+ and JNR as needed.
• Comprehensive understanding of jurisdictional and project REDD+, including its evolution, current sector status, and the relevant stakeholders involved in the implementation of REDD programs.
• Technical expertise and experience in working with environmental and social standards, preferably including knowledge of VCS, the JNR Framework, and Verra’s REDD+ methodologies, particularly VM0048.
• Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in developing and/or utilizing REDD+ methodologies.
• Familiarity with climate change mitigation, GHG accounting, forest reference level development, MRV design, forest carbon methodologies, standards, crediting programs, and REDD+ processes/initiatives (e.g., UNFCCC, Forest Carbon Partnership Facility).
• A degree in environmental science, environmental studies, forestry, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
• A minimum of five years of professional experience in the climate sector, preferably in climate change mitigation and/or carbon markets.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience in collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders, conveying technical information, and incorporating feedback.
