This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• The Lead Product Manager will be responsible for defining the direction and strategy for a specific product or project.
• You will lead cross-functional teams to address intricate challenges and deliver user-focused products and services by leveraging your expertise in product management, stakeholder engagement, agile methodologies, and contemporary software development practices.
• This position will report to the Director of Product and is anticipated to involve travel of no more than 15% of the time.
• Establish the product strategy for your designated product or program area.
• Collaborate with the Program Manager and other team members across disciplines to outline the overall strategy for your project or program.
• Develop and take ownership of the product strategy and execution within a project or program area.
• Clearly communicate the product vision and strategy to your team with both clarity and enthusiasm.
• Drive alignment among external stakeholders with the product vision and strategy, partnering with internal cross-functional team members when necessary.
• Work closely with the Product Management team and others to deliver products and services that fulfill your program area’s strategy and promote systemic change.
• Help lead a skilled multi-disciplinary team (which may include design, research, and engineering) to create and test new solutions that serve underserved communities and enhance our impact.
• Collaborate with other leaders to identify and elevate risks, and establish mitigation strategies.
• Work with engineering and other team leads to develop and refine team processes that allow us to concentrate on high-priority tasks and execute effectively.
• Partner with designers on the development of prototypes and models.
• Engage in active listening and create an environment where team members feel comfortable raising concerns and providing feedback.
• Offer and receive constructive feedback, fostering an atmosphere where diverse perspectives are encouraged.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in product management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead high-quality product development utilizing an agile methodology—iteratively enhancing products through delivery cycles.
• Proven proficiency in interpreting and applying user research, usability testing, and data analytics to inform and validate product decisions.
• Strong product judgment—understanding when to prototype versus code, when to experiment, and when to pivot.
• Skill in reviewing and drafting effective product strategy documents and product/feature specifications, along with providing thoughtful feedback to the team.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort in managing project stakeholders both internally and externally; capable of integrating feedback when it benefits the product, program, and users.
• Ability to make difficult trade-off decisions and facilitate productive discussions during critical inflection points.
• A solid grasp of day-to-day operations coupled with the ability to forecast, plan, and connect short-term progress with a long-term vision.
• Capability to identify product challenges and effectively advocate for solutions, whether by reallocating resources or adjusting scope or requirements.
• Proven ability to manage daily delivery while linking incremental short-term progress to a broader project vision.
• Capacity to engage effectively in future opportunities related to your product and/or project area, including helping to shape potential work.
• Understanding of how to align your team's efforts with the Code for America strategy, making recommendations to your product or project team to maximize outcomes.

• Provision of a laptop.
• A one-time payment of $700 for remote workspace setup; $200 stipend in the first paycheck and up to $500 reimbursement according to our equipment policy.
• Monthly reimbursement of $50 for cell phone and/or internet expenses.
• An annual stipend of $500 (per calendar year) for professional development; prorated at the time of hire.
• Up to $500 of professional development funds can be rolled over each year, with a maximum of $1000.
• Training and guidance for staff required to utilize AI in their roles, plus opportunities for employees to develop AI-related skills to support job and career growth.
• Employees receive a 100% employer match on the first 3% of contributions.
• Employees with over 3 years of service receive an additional 50% match on contributions between 3% and 5%, with a maximum employer contribution of 5%.
• At least one no-cost health insurance option for full-time employees covering employee-only plans.
• A minimum of 80% coverage of dependent insurance costs.
• Code for America employees can work remotely from within the US.
• Code for America employees must have their primary residence in the US.
• Full-time employees are expected to work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday.
• Collaborative working hours: we aim to schedule all internal meetings between 10 AM - 3 PM PT, with all Code for America staff expected to be available during these hours.
• Open personal time off (subject to manager approval), a minimum of 14 paid holidays, and an organization-wide closure from Christmas Day through New Year's Day.
• Paid sick time of up to 96 hours annually.
• 17 weeks of paid parental and family leave.
• 3 weeks of paid sabbatical after 5 years of service.
