• Develop comprehensive end-to-end workflows for intricate productivity processes (task management, collaboration, automation, analytics, etc.).
• Enhance and advance Assemble’s design system to facilitate rapid and high-quality product deliveries.
• Utilize modern AI tools such as Cursor & Bolt for prototyping to investigate interactions, workflows, and lightweight coded prototypes.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to define issues, shape specifications, and iterate swiftly based on actual user feedback.
• Conduct lean discovery methods – user interviews, straightforward usability tests, and quick experiments to validate concepts.
• Advocate for craftsmanship and UX excellence while maintaining a fast-paced shipping schedule in a startup environment.
• Establish the groundwork for a future design team, incorporating processes, rituals, and documentation that others can utilize.
• Highly mission-driven and enthusiastic about improving healthcare for those who operate within it.
• Experienced product designer (typically 5–8+ years) possessing a robust portfolio showcasing impactful work in productivity software.
• Proven ability to simplify intricate, multi-step workflows into user-friendly and enjoyable experiences.
• Experience in building or contributing to a design system (Figma libraries, tokens, component standards, usage guidelines).
• Proficient in managing the entire workflow from problem identification to refined UI – including strategy, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, and prototyping.
• Practical experience with modern AI tools (e.g., Cursor, Bolt, or similar) to enhance exploration, prototyping, or implementation efficiency.
• Adaptable in high-ambiguity situations: comfortable navigating vague problem spaces, evolving priorities, and initial product development. Speed enhances quality through more rapid iteration cycles.
• Strong product acumen: you focus on impact, trade-offs, and user outcomes, rather than merely visual aesthetics.
• Exceptional communicator capable of articulating the rationale behind your design decisions to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Rapid, iterative shipping – we favor small, frequent releases and learning from real user interactions.
• Collaborative environment with low ego – great ideas can originate from anywhere; we engage in thoughtful debate before making commitments.
• Ownership – as the inaugural designer, you’ll play a key role in shaping the design identity at Assemble.
• Hybrid asynchronous/synchronous communication – we emphasize thoughtful documentation alongside regular real-time design sessions.
