This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hong Kong.
• Ensure payroll is processed accurately, punctually, and in accordance with country-specific regulations and statutory obligations.
• Take ownership of the complete payroll execution for designated jurisdictions, which includes validating payroll inputs, performing payroll calculations, and managing post-payroll processes.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on payroll requirements specific to each country, keeping abreast of legislative, tax, and regulatory developments that may influence payroll operations.
• Assist in the operational implementation and rollout of payroll services in new or expanding jurisdictions, ensuring that payroll execution processes are seamlessly integrated into operational workflows.
• Act as a central point of coordination for both internal teams and external stakeholders regarding country payroll issues.
• Detect and address payroll discrepancies, operational risks, or compliance challenges, using sound judgment when escalating complicated matters.
• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of payroll operational processes by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance operational transparency.
• Aid in the development and maintenance of payroll documentation and operational knowledge to guarantee that processes remain clear, scalable, and aligned with internal governance standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate system enhancements, statutory updates, and operational improvements affecting payroll.
• Support the integration of automation and AI-driven tools that increase payroll operational efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Engage in testing activities related to payroll system developments, enhancements, and process improvements to ensure operational readiness.
• Possess significant mid-senior career experience in Pakistani payroll operations, including direct responsibility for the full payroll processing cycle in Pakistan.
• Have managed payroll within multi-country contexts or global organizations, with familiarity in various payroll systems and local regulatory frameworks.
• Exhibit a robust understanding of payroll controls, reconciliations, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Comfortable engaging with internal and external stakeholders within Remote’s payroll ecosystem and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
• Analytical and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to handle complex payroll situations.
• Strong written and verbal communicator, adept at working in asynchronous and globally distributed environments.
• Take responsibility for outcomes, identify risks promptly, and approach operational challenges with curiosity and accountability.
• Comfortable operating in dynamic, fast-paced startup settings.
• Proficient in payroll tools and data analysis utilizing both in-house and external platforms.
• Experience in working with remote or globally distributed teams is advantageous.
• Demonstrate strong fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
