Lead Patient Financial Clearance Representative

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +15 more states.

📋 Description

• Support the escalation of patient complaints and effectively resolve billing issues.

• Oversee department orientation pathways, training materials, and compliance audits.

• Inform patients and their families about financial responsibilities using various communication methods.

• Verify patient eligibility and benefits while estimating their financial responsibilities.

• Collect payments in full or establish payment plans for hospital and ambulatory health services.

• Act as a resource for financial clearance, benefit advising, advocacy, care management, and hospital staff regarding billing and collections.

• Identify financial assistance programs and connect patients and families with Enterprise Financial Counseling.

• Educate patients and families on how to apply for financial assistance.

• Accurately input data into electronic databases and complete daily reports in a timely manner.

• Collaborate with third-party vendors, Care Management, county health officials, and D.H.S. personnel.

• Attend state and local hearings as necessary.

• Assist the Patient Financial Services Call Center and address patient inquiries regarding financial counseling and collections policies.

• Stay updated on departmental standards and adhere to state and federal regulations.

• Carry out other assigned tasks as needed.


⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma is mandatory.

• An associate's degree is preferred.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in patient accounting, billing, or non-clinical healthcare is required.

• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel is essential.

• Strong and clear communication skills are necessary.

• Exceptional oral, written, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational abilities.

• Capability to analyze and interpret data effectively.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks while adhering to policies and procedures.

• Understanding of medical terminology is required.

• Analytical skills to resolve complex problems using scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.

• Experience with information systems and internet usage is necessary.

• Ability to work independently while managing workload to meet productivity standards.

• Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including weekends and evenings.

• Proficient in operating computers, telephones, fax machines, and copiers.

• Capability to sit, walk, and stand as required.

• Ability to visually assess both paper and electronic data, hear telephone conversations, and engage in discussions.
