This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +33 more states.
• Supervise daily security operations, encompassing incident and change management.
• Offer technical guidance for swift incident detection and resolution.
• Engage in and lead response initiatives for Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents.
• Ensure operational readiness for troubleshooting and executing changes.
• Lead a distributed team comprising U.S.-based and offshore engineers, including full-time employees and contractors.
• Promote career advancement through coaching, mentoring, and skill enhancement.
• Cultivate a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance culture.
• Serve as the escalation point for critical security incidents.
• Communicate effectively with senior leadership and business stakeholders.
• Coordinate cross-functional incident responses to reduce business impact.
• Collaborate with Perimeter and Edge Engineering teams to ensure operations align with design.
• Assist in the rollout and operationalization of new security capabilities.
• Review and authorize operational changes, accompanied by risk assessments.
• Identify and escalate risks associated with changes or exceptions.
• Maintain accountability for production modifications.
• Oversee the lifecycle and health of firewall platforms and proxy technologies, including Zscaler.
• Ensure systems remain secure, updated, and optimized.
• Improve processes, workflows, and operational standards.
• Drive quantifiable enhancements in efficiency and security outcomes.
• Proven experience in Security Operations.
• Background in managing network and perimeter security environments.
• Practical experience with Check Point and Cisco ASA firewalls.
• Familiarity with proxy solutions.
• Experience with Web Application Firewalls (WAF).
• Proficiency with Zscaler is required.
• Strong grasp of routing protocols.
• Deep understanding of client/server architectures.
• Comprehensive knowledge of network traffic flow, including ingress/egress.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Capacity to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the use of metrics and data.
• CISSP, CCNP Security, or equivalent certifications are preferred but not essential.
• Proven track record in leading, mentoring, and developing technical teams.
• Excellent collaboration skills across both technical and non-technical groups.
• Experience in providing strategic and operational direction.
• Willingness to work the estimated night shift from 6pm to 2am.
