Lead Medical Writer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee account delivery for small to medium-sized accounts, ensuring that deliverables are completed on schedule, within budget, and adhere to high quality standards.

• Create, develop, and evaluate medical communication materials such as slide decks, video scripts, leave-behind documents, website content, manuscripts, congress publications, scientific communication platforms, gap analyses, meeting summaries, and reports.

• Produce well-researched, technically accurate, client-ready work that aligns with client goals.

• Assess and confirm the scientific accuracy, referencing, audience suitability, and quality of the work produced by junior team members.

• Offer feedback, coaching, and mentorship to writers at the junior level.

• Organize and lead medical conferences and meeting events, including symposia, advisory boards, investigator meetings, and communication and publication workshops, including on-site management responsibilities.

• Cultivate scientific knowledge across various therapy areas and develop expertise in at least one specific area.

• Facilitate client meetings, briefing calls, and follow-up discussions with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and subject matter experts.

• Establish and nurture client relationships while contributing to the formation of client strategies.

• Organize account team workloads, oversee small to medium-scale projects, and identify risks and resource requirements.

• Participate in new business pitches.

• Review project timelines, budget hours, scientific resource requirements, account finances, and project outcomes against budget and timeline.

• Submit timesheets promptly and maintain the necessary billability.

• Supervise 1–2 direct reports and manage the activities of junior colleagues.

• Advanced degree in a relevant field (PhD, MD, PharmD, etc.).

• 4–6 years of experience in medical writing within Medical Communications.

• Exceptional scientific and editorial skills.

• Proven experience in developing strong relationships with clients and healthcare professionals.

• Capability to critically assess deliverables for scientific accuracy and integrity.

• Background in coaching and mentoring junior writers.

• Proactive mindset and enthusiasm for exploring new approaches.

• Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
