Lead Machine Vision Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Take charge of vision architecture

• Improve production-grade computer vision systems

• Drive innovation in pharmacy automation technology

• Create and sustain machine vision software utilizing Python and C++

• Train and uphold detection and classification models

• Construct annotated image datasets and assess model performance against operational metrics

• Implement GPU-based inference solutions

• Set up and troubleshoot industrial vision hardware

• Identify imaging problems and suggest hardware or configuration adjustments

• Manage and troubleshoot Linux systems

• Conduct networking diagnostics, packet analysis, and connectivity troubleshooting

• Integrate REST/gRPC services and link on-premises systems with cloud platforms like AWS

• Report to the Senior Director of Enterprise Architecture

• Travel is required 40% of the time

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced proficiency in Python with experience in C++ for performance-sensitive applications

• Capability to develop maintainable, tested, version-controlled software adhering to engineering best practices

• Experience in training and maintaining detection and classification models

• Proficient in building annotated image datasets

• Experienced in evaluating model performance in relation to operational metrics

• Familiarity with deploying GPU-based inference solutions

• Comprehensive understanding of OpenCV, image processing, camera calibration, distortion correction, and barcode/DataMatrix decoding

• Practical experience with industrial cameras, lenses, lighting, exposure settings, focus, depth of field, and motion analysis

• Ability to diagnose imaging issues and recommend hardware or configuration changes

• Strong skills in Linux administration and troubleshooting

• Experience with networking diagnostics, packet analysis, and troubleshooting connectivity issues

• Integration experience using REST/gRPC and connecting on-premises systems with cloud environments such as AWS

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related field

• Over 10 years of engineering experience in production machine vision systems

• Extensive engineering expertise with machine vision or applied computer vision systems operating in live production settings
