This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Support management with daily coding tasks, departmental priorities, and initiatives.
• Mentor new team members and assist with remote onboarding training.
• Recommend improvements to workflows.
• Address billing edits and test updates for the EHR.
• Collaborate with Coding personnel, CDI, and Quality Reviewers to ensure accurate coding and timely completions.
• Act as a resource for coding inquiries, education, quality and productivity standards, and workflows.
• Work with ancillary departments to address coding and operational challenges.
• Conduct ICD-10-CM/CPT coding and data abstraction.
• Serve as the primary contact and resource for coding staff regarding coding inquiries and workflow support.
• Handle coding-related questions and issues from CDI, Business Services, and other departments within the hospital.
• Ensure coding completion aligns with departmental KPIs and objectives.
• Escalate coding issues to the supervisor for resolution and guideline formation.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in coding inpatient medical records.
• Perform ICD-10-CM/CPT coding and data abstraction while meeting established accuracy and productivity standards.
• Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies, tools, and techniques.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct root-cause analysis.
• Proficient in both written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of medical information coding.
• Understanding of healthcare diagnosis and procedure coding.
• Awareness of industry standards and regulatory considerations.
• Knowledge of health information concepts and terminology, including anatomy, physiology, medical fields, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, legal/data standards, statistics, and quality management.
• Must possess one of the following certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CPC, or CCS.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, Business Administration, Health Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Capability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
• Frequent sitting/standing and keyboard usage.
