This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
• Define and take charge of the technical architecture and long-term strategy for GIS data pipelines, processing systems, and geospatial platforms.
• Assist Solution Architects and Engineering teams on all aspects related to spatial data – including data formats, modeling, projections, specifications, and validations – to facilitate customer-centric solutions.
• Lead GIS data engineering initiatives across teams and products from inception to delivery.
• Propel the assessment, selection, and adoption of new tools, technologies, and platform capabilities (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, FME Form, cloud GIS platforms).
• Set and enforce data engineering standards, architectural patterns, and best practices throughout the discipline; implement new processes and gain support from both internal and external stakeholders as required.
• Serve as the primary technical reviewer and decision-maker for intricate design questions, alterations to data models, and integrations of platforms.
• Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and innovation, implementing them within the organization while managing resistance and escalating for higher-level support when necessary.
• Create and manage networks of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support customer data projects and enable bi-directional knowledge exchange from regional to global levels.
• Mentor and coach engineers at Grade 7 and Grade 8, fostering their growth and technical expertise.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and compliance of geospatial data products across all formats and delivery pipelines.
• 8+ years of experience in GIS data engineering or related fields, showcasing a proven record of technical leadership.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geoinformatics, Computer Science, Geodesy, Geography, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Proficient in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, FME Form, ArcGIS Network Analyst, ArcPy, and cloud-based GIS platforms; familiarity with QGIS is an advantage.
• Extensive expertise in geospatial data modeling, schema architecture, network dataset design, and large-scale cross-platform data harmonization.
• In-depth knowledge of HERE databases, products, and end-to-end specifications; experience in process design and engineering.
• Proven capability to design and manage automated QA/QC frameworks, performance optimization strategies, and data quality standards for large, complex geospatial datasets.
• Experienced in platform architecture design, including cloud-native GIS pipelines, multi-format processing at scale, and enterprise spatial data infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with customers on complex technical data projects and offer consultancy on spatial data challenges.
• Proven experience in defining technical strategy, influencing engineering direction, and achieving alignment across engineering, product, GTM, and operations teams without direct management authority.
• Possess a challenger mindset: independently identifies opportunities, drives innovation, and effectively manages organizational resistance.
• Diplomatic and persuasive: adept at building consensus at various levels and escalating issues effectively when necessary.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English, additional languages are a plus.
