This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Oversee all restoration, documentation, and mapping initiatives for various grassland habitats in National Parks throughout the Eastern U.S.
• Execute grassland restoration and reconstruction projects in National Parks in the Eastern U.S. (including site preparation, invasive species management, herbicide application, seed collection, planting of restoration seed mixes, and more).
• Organize weekly fieldwork activities in collaboration with the Project Director and the Central Appalachian Grasslands Coordinator.
• Direct and coordinate daily project tasks for the team of field technicians.
• Provide updates and communicate project requirements with the Project Director and Central Appalachian Grasslands Coordinator.
• Assist in collecting written, photographic, and GIS data for each project site.
• Aid in the preparation of maps utilizing GIS software.
• Review relevant materials and protocols.
• Engage in regular team meetings and SGI staff meetings.
• At least one year of experience in grassland restoration or project management.
• A B.S. or B.A. degree in Biology, Botany, Ecology, Natural Resources, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Exceptional organizational and task-management abilities are essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required, with the capability to work effectively within a dynamic team and engage with a diverse range of individuals.
• Must approach tasks with a positive attitude and a readiness to learn.
• A solid commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion throughout all facets of the program is necessary.
• Willingness to be flexible with travel and work schedules.
• Travel expenses will be covered by grant funds.
