Lead Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Serve as a pivotal architect and builder in the pursuit of a resilient, decentralized, and impartial global currency.

• Address core challenges related to the mediation of thought through software, the enhancement of human capabilities by AI, and the intuitive navigation and creative extensibility of complex information.

• Concentrate on developing automated workflows and data systems that act as essential infrastructure, delving into deeper issues of structure, change, and representation.

• Spearhead the design and execution of the “Atlas Workflow Automation v2” system, emphasizing strong data synchronization between Notion and our backend, accurate change-tracking for hierarchical content, and automated governance proposal creation.

• Create and ensure the reliability of data pipelines, which includes establishing automated testing, thorough monitoring, and resilient rollback/repair tools.

• Design and construct core backend services and data models with a focus on event-driven architecture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in developing production back-end/server-side systems, with a strong command of JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js) AND demonstrated proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, Go, or Rust/Java.

• Expert SQL skills with extensive experience in designing and managing relational databases to handle complex, hierarchical data structures.

• Proven track record in modeling parent-child relationships, maintaining data integrity, and crafting sophisticated queries for data retrieval, transformation, and tracking changes.

• Significant hands-on experience with PostgreSQL is required.

• Extensive familiarity with complex third-party REST APIs, including substantial, in-depth experience with at least one major content or productivity platform API (e.g., Notion, Google Workspace, Airtable).

• Proficient in, or capable of quickly learning, the Notion API for production use.

• Proficient in, or able to rapidly acquire skills in, the design and implementation of diffing algorithms or robust change-tracking mechanisms for structured/hierarchical data.

• Strong understanding of API design principles (REST/GraphQL), secure authentication methods, and secret management practices.

• Experience with event-driven architecture, containerization (Docker), modern CI/CD methodologies, and pipeline observability (automated tests, monitoring).

• Deep interest in AI-assisted coding and enthusiasm for exploring new models and tools.

• Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.

• Experience with PostgreSQL-based Backend-as-a-Service (BaaS) platforms (like Supabase) or the creation of custom backend services on PostgreSQL that provide data through APIs is highly desirable, especially if you’ve utilized platform-specific features (e.g., advanced functions, RLS) for automation, security, or data synchronization.

• Experience or a strong inclination towards designing extensible platforms, frameworks, or systems with rich plugin architectures or APIs for customization.

• Excellent technical communication skills and a collaborative, first-principles approach to problem-solving.

• Resourceful, self-motivated, and adept at navigating the uncertainties involved in exploring new frontiers.
