This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• We are in search of an innovative Lead Engineer who will serve as a key architect and builder in this endeavor.
• Your role will extend beyond merely implementing features; you will address core challenges regarding the mediation of thought through software, the enhancement of human capability by AI, and the intuitive navigation and creative extensibility of complex information.
• Your initial tasks will involve constructing automated workflows and data systems (for example, synchronizing intricate, hierarchical content between platforms such as Notion and Supabase) that act as essential infrastructure while also delving into the deeper challenges of structure, change, and representation.
• Over 5 years of experience in developing production back-end/server-side systems, with a strong command of JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js) and proven experience in at least one of Python, Go, or Rust/Java.
• Proficient in SQL with extensive experience in designing and managing relational databases to handle complex, hierarchical data structures.
• Significant hands-on experience with PostgreSQL is essential.
• Substantial experience with intricate third-party REST APIs, with verifiable, in-depth experience in at least one major content or productivity platform API (such as Notion, Google Workspace, or Airtable).
• Ability to quickly learn and become proficient with the Notion API in a production environment.
• Skill or the ability to swiftly adapt to the design and implementation of diffing algorithms or robust change-tracking logic for structured/hierarchical data.
• Strong understanding of API design principles (REST/GraphQL), secure authentication methods, and secret management.
• Experience with event-driven architecture, containerization (Docker), modern CI/CD practices, and pipeline observability (including automated testing and monitoring).
• Deeply engaged with AI-assisted coding and enthusiastic about experimenting with emerging models and tools.
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.
• Experience with PostgreSQL-based Backend-as-a-Service (BaaS) platforms (like Supabase) or the development of custom backend services on PostgreSQL that expose data via APIs is highly desirable, especially if you have utilized platform-specific features (like advanced functions or RLS) for automation, security, or data synchronization in such environments.
• A strong passion for AI/ML, particularly LLMs, with an obsession for their transformative potential in software, computing, and knowledge work.
• A keen interest in "tools for thought," software malleability, and the history and future of personal computing.
• Experience or a strong enthusiasm for designing extensible platforms, frameworks, or systems with comprehensive plugin architectures or APIs for customization.
• Exceptional technical communication skills paired with a collaborative, first-principles thinking approach.
• Resourceful, self-motivated, and comfortable navigating the uncertainties that come with exploring new frontiers.
• Flexible work arrangements
