• Decrease the time required for infrastructure provisioning.
• Develop runbooks, scripts, and unit tests to minimize manual effort on repetitive tasks.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to enhance their existing workflows through automation.
• Engage across the organization to guide and promote improved cloud adoption and governance.
• Oversee, enhance, and support the tools and platforms managed by the team.
• Create and maintain Puppet roles and profiles to automate the configuration of Windows and Linux servers.
• Advocate for reliable, efficient, and scalable enterprise-grade solutions throughout the organization.
• Share your knowledge and expertise with colleagues by documenting your work and leading brown bag sessions.
• Implement best practices for systems automation and platform operations.
• Ensure the availability and security of the tools and platforms supported by the team.
• Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, software development, information technology, or equivalent experience is required.
• A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in a DevOps, Cloud, or Platform engineering role is required; 8 to 12 years is preferred.
• Extensive hands-on experience with tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, and Terraform.
• Proven track record of building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in programming and scripting languages including Ruby, Java, Python, Bash, .NET, and Powershell; with a strong ability to author and automate code quality standards.
• Capability to write idempotent declarative configuration management using Puppet, along with a solid understanding of the operating systems and applications present in the Vantage enterprise.
• Advanced knowledge of secure coding practices, compliance as code, software attestation, and signing.
• In-depth understanding of Terraform and ARM.
• Proficiency in using Chocolatey to create custom NuGet packages.
• Intermediate to advanced familiarity with VMWare VCF 9 components, vCenter, vSphere, and the ability to codify Content Library, Aria Automations, Tanzu, and NSX.
• Advanced knowledge of Azure networking, storage, compute, and serverless technologies.
• Advanced expertise in the ELK stack, Kubernetes, and Openshift.
• Intermediate knowledge of FluxCD and Helm.
• Intermediate understanding of policy as code tools such as Checkov and Open Policy Agent.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud-native design principles and best practices, with the ability to apply these principles in a hybrid cloud environment.
• Experience with ITIL practices.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks such as GDPR, PCI, and SOX.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Experience in the Data Center industry is strongly preferred but not required.
