This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Lead the design and execution of secure cloud environments hosting data and both batch and real-time analytical platforms for clients in the public and private sectors.
• Create automated deployment solutions utilizing configuration management technologies.
• Implement new modules, upgrades, and fixes in both test and production environments.
• Develop, test, and deploy cloud-based infrastructure and applications using CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Contribute to the development of custom test automation frameworks.
• Maintain and modify scripts to adapt to evolving requirements or implementations.
• Establish and manage environments for both manual and automated testing.
• Investigate and resolve incidents as part of the production support team.
• Conduct routine maintenance of applications.
• Support gap analysis, identify alternative solutions, and scope modifications.
• Engage in contingency planning, including backup and restoration procedures.
• Document functionalities, changes, modules, and testing activities/results.
• Mentor the team and guide them in fulfilling customer requirements.
• A Bachelor's degree or higher, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in a DevOps role.
• UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance is required; candidates without SC clearance can apply for assistance to obtain it, provided they have lived and worked in the UK for at least 5 years.
• Proven experience in deploying and managing infrastructure and applications on AWS and other cloud platforms.
• Experience in developing and managing open-source and commercial software within a cloud-focused environment.
• Proficient in server build and administration on both Linux and Windows systems.
• Familiarity with GitHub/GitLab for source control and conducting code reviews.
• Knowledge of CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code tools, including Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with Test Driven Development using appropriate tools and frameworks.
• Understanding of cloud orchestration and containerization technologies, such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• Knowledge of large-scale databases and distributed technologies, including RDS.
• Familiarity with distributed event streaming technologies, such as Kafka.
• Proficient in Bash/Shell or Python scripting for automation purposes.
• Experience in mentoring and leading teams, as well as making critical decisions.
