Lead Data Engineer – Backend, Python, Typescript, Big Data, AWS, Kubernetes

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance new features for REST APIs and large-scale data processing pipelines that manage high-volume datasets across distributed systems.

• Architect and fine-tune backend services to ensure high throughput and low-latency performance.

• Create data-intensive and event-driven applications utilizing Python, Typescript, Spark, and AWS-native services.

• Collaborate with Spark, EMR, Glue, Kafka, or similar frameworks to process and transform extensive datasets.

• Enhance system performance, reliability, and scalability across microservices and cloud infrastructure.

• Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, DevOps, and QA throughout the entire development lifecycle.

• Mentor developers, oversee code reviews, and elevate engineering quality standards.

• Automate deployments and CI/CD processes using Terraform, Serverless Framework, and Kubernetes-based workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of backend or full-stack engineering experience, with a substantial focus on backend development.

• More than 7 years of practical experience with Python (in APIs, automation, and large-scale data pipelines).

• At least 3 years of experience working with Typescript / Node.js.

• Advanced knowledge of AWS (including EC2, EKS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, Step Functions, etc.).

• Strong practical experience in deploying and optimizing production workloads on Kubernetes.

• Demonstrated experience with large datasets, distributed computing, and both batch and stream processing using Spark, Dask, EMR, Glue, Kafka, etc.

• Comprehensive understanding of system design, distributed systems, scalability patterns, and cloud architecture.

• Proficient in business-level English to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams across different regions.

• Capable of collaborating, clearly documenting solutions, and engaging in technical discussions with stakeholders.
