Lead Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop, maintain, ensure quality, and operate numerical models used for calculating pEPR fees biannually.

• Ensure that numerical models are robust, transparent, and suitable for their intended purpose.

• Lead the data strategy for the Fees and Payments Calculator teams.

• Identify data needs and create processes for collecting and maintaining vital datasets.

• Collaborate with broader data strategy teams to ensure consistency and minimize redundancy.

• Work together with PackUK to aid in decision-making, policy formulation, and external communications.

• Oversee access to and utilization of the Report Packaging Data (RPD) portal.

• Coordinate with digital teams and regulatory bodies to address technical issues impacting the RPD portal.

• Further advance R-based tools for extracting and analyzing producer data.

• Utilize advanced R skills for data manipulation, statistical modeling, simulation, and reproducible analytical pipelines.

• Implement automated testing and documentation methodologies.

• Maintain version control through Git and GitHub.

• Clearly communicate complex analyses to non-technical audiences.

• Represent PackUK in industry-facing environments.

• Collaborate with PackUK teams, digital partners, regulators, and external stakeholders.

• Lead small teams or coordinate deliveries across teams as necessary.

• Build analytical capabilities and contribute to broader improvement initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced expertise in R, encompassing data manipulation with dplyr and data.table.

• Experience in statistical modeling and simulation.

• Proven record in developing and maintaining reproducible analytical pipelines.

• Familiarity with automated testing and documentation practices.

• Practical experience utilizing Git and GitHub for version control.

• Experience in developing, maintaining, ensuring quality, and operating numerical models.

• Knowledge of data strategy development, identifying data requirements, and maintaining datasets.

• Experience in extracting and analyzing data using R-based tools.

• Capable of collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.

• Proficient in conveying complex analytical results to non-technical audiences.

• Strong leadership abilities, including managing small teams or coordinating deliveries across teams.

• Capacity to enhance analytical capabilities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Eligibility for BPSS clearance and compliance with UK resource requirements.

• Legal authorization to live and work in the country of the position without employer sponsorship.

• Availability to work under a PAYE arrangement via an Umbrella company.
