Lead Curriculum Writer – Curriculum Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and develop high-quality foundational curriculum that complies with established standards and supports the fundamental development of reading and writing.

• Spearhead the creation of instructional design planning resources and documentation (e.g., scope and sequences, knowledge maps, pacing guides, etc.).

• Oversee the development of instructional resources, including lesson plans, teacher guides, student materials, and assessments.

• Ensure both vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels and subject areas to facilitate skill progression and concept reinforcement.

• Collaborate with subject matter experts, editors, and instructional designers to generate engaging, culturally relevant, and grade-appropriate content.

• Modify content to accommodate diverse learning needs, including those of students with learning differences and English language learners.

• Conduct ongoing revisions informed by internal reviews and client feedback.

• Stay informed about updates to state-specific standards and policy changes related to literacy education.

• Lead and facilitate planning sessions with other curriculum designers and writers to ensure cohesion and alignment throughout the project.

• Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring that materials are completed accurately and punctually.

• Review and provide constructive feedback on curriculum drafts created by other designers and writers to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment.

• Assist in the creation of professional learning materials that enable teachers to understand and effectively implement the curriculum.

• Organize workshops and training sessions to collect feedback and execute revisions.

• Develop procedures to assess and guarantee the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of curriculum materials.

• Conduct regular evaluations and incorporate feedback for continuous enhancement.

• Apply knowledge and insights regarding current trends in education, curriculum design, and instructional technology.

• Integrate innovative strategies and tools to boost learner engagement and outcomes.

• Maintain comprehensive records of the curriculum development processes, timelines, and results.

• Prepare reports and presentations for leadership and stakeholders.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education, literacy, curriculum and instruction, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).

• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in foundational skills.

• At least three (3) years of experience in curriculum development and instructional design.

• Two (2) or more years of management experience.

• Proven history of curriculum development, review, and alignment with state and national standards.

• Strong grasp of foundational skills and best practices.

• Demonstrated ability to write engaging, grade-level appropriate instructional materials for educators and students.

• Experience in designing curriculum for diverse learners, including multilingual students and those with various abilities.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy, alignment, and educational equity.

• Comfort with project management tools and the ability to manage deadlines across multiple projects.

• A sense of humor and adaptability to work in a dynamic environment.

• Willingness to travel based on client or project requirements.
