Lead Control & Mechatronics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Design and sustain software for machine control.

• Realize automation through the development of control software and machine commissioning.

• Ensure dependable movement of prescriptions within high-volume pharmacy fulfillment processes.

• Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and control engineering disciplines.

• Identify and resolve issues across mechanical, electrical, software, and network areas.

• Construct, commission, and integrate automated machines into production.

• Diagnose production equipment and assist during startup operations.

• Offer support for production, customers, project teams, and commissioning efforts.

• Report directly to the Senior Director of Enterprise Architecture.

• Expect to travel around 40% of the time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (HBO) or an equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related field.

• Over 10 years of experience in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Automation.

• Proficient hands-on programming experience with Siemens S7-1200 and S7-1500 PLCs.

• In-depth knowledge of TIA Portal and IEC 61131-3 programming languages.

• Experience in developing and maintaining machine control software.

• Capability to work across mechanical, electrical, and control engineering domains.

• Insight into the interactions among hardware, software, motion systems, sensors, actuators, and machine design.

• Familiarity with servo systems, frequency drives, axis tuning, homing, positioning, electronic gearing, camming, and multi-axis synchronization.

• Proficient in Modbus TCP, IO-Link, OPC UA, MQTT, and relevant diagnostics.

• Ability to troubleshoot issues across mechanical, electrical, software, and network domains.

• Excellent communication skills to assist customers, project teams, and commissioning activities under pressure.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Proven experience in building, commissioning, and deploying automated machines into production.

• Experience in troubleshooting real-world production equipment and supporting startup activities.
