This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of and uphold Motive’s AML/BSA, Sanctions, and KYC/KYB policies and procedures across all operational markets.
• Develop, implement, and oversee sanctions and PEP screening, transaction monitoring, and controls for escalating suspicious activities.
• Act as the primary compliance liaison and relationship manager for issuing bank and card network partners.
• Oversee compliance reviews, examinations, audits, and the fulfillment of remediation commitments.
• Collaborate with Risk, Legal, Underwriting, Product, and Engineering teams to integrate lending-compliance requirements into new products and markets prior to their launch.
• Lead both internal and external compliance audits and examinations and ensure that findings are resolved promptly.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and adapt policies and controls accordingly.
• Establish and manage compliance governance, including reporting mechanisms, escalation paths, and risk committees.
• Create a playbook for assessing compliance requirements before entering new markets.
• Expand the compliance team by recruiting and managing additional members in the future.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in compliance, audit, or risk management within the lending, payments, or financial services sectors.
• Direct responsibility for AML/BSA, KYC/KYB, sanctions, and PEP programs.
• Proven experience in managing compliance relationships with issuing banks, card networks, or other regulated financial institutions, including conducting audits and remediation.
• Experience with multi-jurisdiction compliance programs, including Canada and UK/EU, is essential.
• Familiarity with commercial lending, AML/sanctions, and payments regulatory frameworks across North America and Europe, including BSA, FinCEN, FINTRAC/PCMLTFA, OFAC sanctions, and UK/EU AML and data protection regulations.
• Capability to draft policies and operationalize them through controls, procedures, and monitoring systems that can withstand audits.
• Experience collaborating with Legal, Risk, Product, and Engineering teams to launch compliant products in new markets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to represent Motive to external regulators, auditors, and banking partners while advising senior leadership on compliance risk.
• Must have authorization to receive and access commodities and technologies regulated under U.S. Export Administration Regulations.
