This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +17 more states.
• Assign and organize ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for various patient interactions, including inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and emergency department records.
• Precisely code advanced and intricate procedural accounts containing multiple components.
• Examine medical records for documentation shortcomings and ensure that diagnoses and procedures are accurately represented in accordance with coding standards.
• Review charges for correctness, confirm medical necessity, and collaborate with providers and departments to acquire complete supporting documentation.
• Conduct timely follow-ups on accounts needing additional documentation or clarification.
• Complete charge capture, data entry, and clinical data abstraction while guaranteeing compliance with regulatory, reporting, and oversight requirements.
• Check patient account details, encounter types, and demographic information while coordinating corrections with Patient Access as necessary.
• Uphold compliance with all federal, state, and organizational coding standards and regulations.
• Achieve set productivity and quality targets while ensuring a high level of coding accuracy.
• Engage in continuing education and remain updated on coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Contribute to departmental quality improvement efforts and identify opportunities for process enhancements.
• 4+ years of coding experience in an acute care or medical office environment.
• 2+ years of experience working with electronic medical record (EMR) systems for data entry and retrieval.
• A nationally recognized coding certification is required (such as CCS, CPC, or AAPC).
• Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, coding guidelines, reimbursement methodologies, and industry best practices.
• Strong grasp of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, health information management, and coding classification systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the capability to quickly learn additional software applications.
• Dedication to maintaining patient confidentiality and adherence to all relevant regulations.
• Outstanding organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to prioritize competing responsibilities.
