Lead Clinical Documentation Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a senior expert in clinical documentation integrity, addressing urgent, complex, or high-stakes issues within the CDI program.

• Function as the main point of contact for urgent CDI matters, including payer denials, audits, and DRG validation.

• Tackle immediate system challenges such as elevated denial rates, quality concerns, and new coding regulations.

• Provide mentorship to front-line Clinical Documentation Specialists (CDSs) on intricate cases, query development, and escalation procedures.

• Examine documentation and coding data to identify trends and areas for enhancement.

• Lead and ensure adherence to strategic CDI initiatives across various markets and systems.

• Assess strategic outcomes and propose pathways for implementation.

• Facilitate rapid-cycle audits, investigate documentation and coding discrepancies, and support training, compliance, and data-informed decision-making.

⛳️ Requirements

• Clinical Documentation Professional credential from the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists, obtained prior to the hire date or job transfer date.

• CCDS Certification is mandatory.

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience, OR an Associate's or Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience, OR 5 years of relevant cumulative job-specific experience.

• Leadership experience is preferred.

• Project Management experience is preferred.

• 2 years of leadership or management experience is preferred.
