Lead Appian Application Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Assist in conceptualizing, designing, and executing new features using the Appian low-code platform for projects based on the prioritized product backlog.

• Bring innovative and creative thinking to tackle complex challenges, collaborating with colleagues and leveraging both internal and external resources.

• Provide estimates for upcoming sprints based on the current understanding of the functionalities.

• Collaborate with functional and testing teams to grasp business functionalities, ensuring that developed solutions meet or surpass end-user requirements.

• Conduct unit testing for all developed features, including edge cases, and be prepared to perform peer reviews of colleagues' code as necessary.

• Attend and actively engage in all Agile-related meetings, working within the Agile framework, including participation in User Story grooming sessions, Sprint Planning meetings, and retrospectives.

• Present to clients during Sprint demos and organize meetings with intersecting teams as required.

• Contribute to the implementation of architectures for digital solutions, frameworks, and accelerators.

• Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions within the organization to promote best practices and draft white papers as needed.

• Assist in building proof of concept and creating technical solutions for internal applications as required.

• Support the upskilling and training of developers, contributing to the development of internal training resources and programs.

• Serve as a key contributor to the internal knowledge repository, maintaining and creating documentation of best practices as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or other IT-related qualification.

• Certified Appian Lead Developer.

• Applicants MUST be able to obtain and maintain the US Government’s Public Trust security clearance.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in the design and implementation of digital, BPM low-code solutions using Appian.

• Strong skills in Appian development and debugging.

• Good understanding of data concepts (SQL, Databases) and business workflows.

• Experience with recent Appian versions (20.x or later).

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with both technical and business stakeholders.

• It would be advantageous to also have:

• Experience with Appian SAIL, Process Models, Interfaces, Process Monitoring, and/or Integrations.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and take timely action; experience with Agile methodologies and Agile project management.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, alongside strong organizational and time management skills.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills in a remote work environment.

• Experience collaborating with software development team members.

• Familiarity with other open-source technologies is preferred.
