This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.
• Take ownership of significant Android features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist engineers by resolving technical challenges.
• Streamline reusable implementations into standardized team solutions.
• Oversee shared code that is well-tested, clear, and reusable.
• Drive improvements in team processes.
• Minimize the manual intervention needed for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Shift verification processes earlier and enhance automated checks.
• Conduct planning sessions centered on tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish review requirements and sign-off protocols.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Manage critical issues, lead feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers by assigning appropriately challenging tasks and allocating time for learning.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership roles or ownership of significant projects while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in deploying and maintaining background audio or other long-duration background tasks.
• Awareness of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including acknowledging aspects that cannot be tested.
• Proven experience in introducing lasting team practices post-implementation.
• Comfortable with encouraging changes in work habits and managing any resulting friction.
• Ability to assess which modifications require in-depth review and which do not.
• History of developing solutions that are actively utilized by the team.
• Capacity to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents.
• Strong intuition for product design, user empathy, and a commitment to advancing Android UI/UX beyond basic requirements.
• Self-motivated to enhance the app and codebase beyond specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
• Submission of portfolio and LinkedIn links is required with the application.
