This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive insights.
• Assist team members by investigating and resolving technical obstacles.
• Discover reusable solutions and merge duplicated implementations.
• Ensure shared components are well-tested, clear, and reusable.
• Drive improvements in team processes and methodologies.
• Minimize the manual effort required for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying foundational systems.
• Promote early verification by increasing automated checks.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on tasks that necessitate decision-making.
• Establish suitable review levels and sign-off protocols.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, communicating team limitations proactively.
• Manage critical situations, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for Quality Assurance.
• Assist early-career team members with educational opportunities and mentoring.
• Write and review code while taking a hands-on approach to feature ownership.
• Collaborate with engineers who voice concerns regarding team processes, assigning them underlying issues to address.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and supporting background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• A solid grasp of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including aspects that cannot be tested.
• An example of a contribution you made to a team that persisted after your involvement, along with a candid assessment of the effort required to achieve it.
• Some comfort with the less popular aspects of the job: encouraging changes in work habits and managing the resultant friction.
• An understanding of which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A history of creating solutions that your team genuinely utilized, not just those that enhanced your efficiency.
• The ability to explain how your team collaborates with AI agents, not just your personal approach.
• A sense of product design intuition, user empathy, and the ambition to advance Android UI/UX beyond the specified requirements.
• A self-driven approach to enhancing the app and codebase beyond what is outlined in the specifications.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on an actual codebase.
