This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Denmark.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to deployment, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist team members by investigating and resolving stalled tasks.
• Integrate duplicated implementations into cohesive team solutions.
• Ensure shared components are tested, well-maintained, and clearly organized.
• Initiate changes to team processes as necessary.
• Minimize the need for manual interventions during correct releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Advance verification processes by increasing automated checks.
• Facilitate planning sessions centered around unresolved decisions.
• Identify suitable review levels and sign-off requirements.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, addressing team constraints proactively.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor and support early-career engineers through learning opportunities.
• Write code, conduct code reviews, and actively own features.
• Take part in technical interviews and assess candidates on real codebases.
• A minimum of 5 years in software engineering, with experience leading a team or managing a major project while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including aspects that cannot be covered by tests.
• An example of an initiative you introduced to a team that endured after your involvement ceased, along with an honest evaluation of the effort required to achieve that.
• A degree of comfort with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging others to modify their work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes warrant thorough review and which do not, based on the functionality of the system.
• A history of creating solutions that your team utilized effectively, rather than solely focusing on personal efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond just your individual contributions.
• An intuitive grasp of product design, user empathy, and the ambition to enhance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A proactive approach to improving the app and codebase, extending beyond the details in the specifications.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience with open-source Android projects, iOS, Web, or NodeJS is a plus.
