Lead AI Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Define the comprehensive architecture for AI solutions, encompassing data pipelines, model storage, inference engines, and front-end integration.

• Assess and choose technology stacks, including LLMs, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks.

• Implement MLOps best practices regarding coding standards, model versioning, and deployment strategies.

• Design scalable systems capable of handling substantial data throughput and ensuring low-latency inference.

• Create human-in-the-loop systems and establish guardrails for privacy, compliance, and AI safety.

• Drive cross-functional collaboration among Data Science, DevOps, Product, and infrastructure teams.

• Offer strategic consultation on business processes, organizational structures, and enabling technologies.

• Facilitate the development of complex enterprise business solutions and contribute to enterprise strategy formulation.

• Specify and design intricate systems, solutions, networks, infrastructure components, and processes.

• Lead system design reviews and establish policies for architecture-component selection.

• Assess complex design options, balancing functional, service-quality, and systems-management requirements.

• Produce requirements, specifications, and implementation designs for components.

• Provide guidance on system development, integration, change requests, deviations, and technical procedures.

• Spearhead significant improvement initiatives and resolve architectural or business challenges.

• Act as the technical or business lead for highly complex project initiatives.

• Communicate effectively with customers, partners, management, peers, and departments across the organization.

• Engage in customer, design, technical, and problem-resolution walkthroughs.

• Offer expert advice, leadership, mentoring, coaching, and training in architecture and technical domains.

• Prepare and present on intricate technical issues.

• Travel as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a closely related field is required.

• 7 years of experience in an IT discipline is required.

• 7 years of experience in a business discipline is required.

• Profound understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, API design, and cloud-native patterns.

• Expertise in designing complex schemas for both structured and unstructured data.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Ansible.

• Extensive knowledge of AWS/SageMaker, Azure/Azure ML, or GCP/Vertex AI.

• Mastery of the AI lifecycle, including tools such as PyTorch/TensorFlow and Kubeflow, MLflow, or BentoML.

• In-depth understanding of Generative AI, Transformer architectures, RAG, and fine-tuning methodologies.

• Minimum of 3 years in an architectural role.

• Valuable experience in enterprise integration and transitioning legacy systems to AI-enhanced workflows.

• Capability to mentor senior engineers and present intricate architectural decisions to the C-suite.

• Ability to foresee AI trends 12–24 months in advance and prepare infrastructure accordingly.

• Skills in optimizing cloud GPU/TPU costs.

• Proficiency in documenting architectural patterns and leading technical design reviews.

• Travel as required.

• Compliance with HIPAA, data security guidelines, company policies, and relevant laws and regulations.

• Preferred: Master’s Degree.

• Preferred: Knowledge of the health insurance industry.

• Preferred: Industry certifications such as Java Developer, DB2, Cognos, PEGA, Enterprise Architect (SCEA), or Project Management.

• Relevant skills may include IMS, DB2, Oracle, Teradata, data warehousing, COBOL, Visual Basic, C, C++, SAS, Java/JavaScript, PEGA, CSS3, mobile, JSON, Cognos, Hadoop, SQL, J2EE, HTML5/XML, and Waterfall or Agile project management tools.
