Lead Advisory Consultant, AI Governance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead assessments of the AI ecosystem, pinpoint maturity gaps, and create customized governance frameworks tailored to the specific industries, regulatory contexts, and AI enablement visions of clients.

• Take ownership of multi-workstream projects, fostering executive alignment and establishing multi-year governance roadmaps linked to AI strategy and value realization.

• Establish governance evaluation and approval procedures for AI tools and use cases, including risk tiers, scoring methodologies, and control expectations.

• Create blueprints for AI governance operating models that outline governing bodies, roles, RACIs, and interaction models across Technology, Product, InfoSec, Risk, and Legal.

• Define and implement AI FinOps guardrails that encompass spend visibility, budget thresholds, usage policies, platform/tool approvals, license rationalization, and total cost of ownership (TCO) decisions.

• Facilitate executive and operational sessions to ensure stakeholder alignment and drive decisions.

• Develop governance metrics and dashboards to monitor value, costs, risk exposure, control coverage, and governance efficacy.

• Recommend third-party AI governance tools and collaborate with engineering teams to guarantee implementability on current data and AI platforms.

• Shape and secure strategic opportunities with sales through compelling value propositions, solution strategies, and delivery models.

• Represent phData as a thought leader in AI governance at conferences, webinars, and partner events.

• Act as a trusted advisor to client sponsors and senior stakeholders, nurturing relationships and identifying expansion opportunities.

• Collaborate with executive sponsors, data and analytics leaders, product and delivery teams, and business end users to ensure smooth execution and measurable outcomes.

• Foster cross-practice relationships among Data Engineering, Analytics, AI/ML, and Advisory to provide comprehensive solutions.

• Contribute to AI Governance, Operating Model, and FinOps offerings through the development of methods, templates, accelerators, and client-ready materials.

• Assist in sales pursuits, webinars, and thought leadership in AI governance.

• Mentor consultants and senior consultants.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in AI/Data ecosystem assessments, managing multi-stakeholder programs, and advising senior executives on AI or data governance.

• Proven track record in designing governance frameworks, including risk tiering, model risk management, and approval processes for platforms/tools.

• Experience in designing operating models, encompassing roles, RACIs, and governance bodies for data, analytics, or AI organizations.

• Strong grasp of AI/GenAI concepts, including model types, agentic workflows, and enterprise use cases.

• Familiarity with NIST AI RMF, EU AI Act, and ISO/IEC 42001.

• Practical knowledge of data platforms and AI ecosystems such as Snowflake, AWS, and Claude.

• Demonstrated consulting delivery capabilities, including problem framing, hypothesis-driven analysis, and producing executive-ready deliverables.

• Exceptional communication and storytelling abilities; adept at translating intricate governance concepts for business audiences.

• Capacity to influence without formal authority and to build consensus across functions.

• Bachelor's degree.

• Willingness to travel as necessary for client commitments.

• Preferred: experience in establishing AI governance committees, steering committees, or review boards.

• Preferred: hands-on experience in model risk management, responsible AI, or compliance within regulated industries.

• Preferred: previous consulting experience at a data/AI firm or within a central AI/ML office or analytics function.

• Preferred: contributions to public thought leadership regarding AI governance.

• Preferred: advanced degree or relevant professional certifications.
