This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Conducts legal research, compiles case materials, and drafts research memos, pleadings, and motions under the supervision and mentorship of an Attorney or Supervising Attorney.
• Aids attorneys by gathering and organizing information for legal documents.
• Typically works part-time, approximately 20 hours each week.
• Investigates laws, court rulings, documents, opinions, briefs, or other information pertinent to cases.
• Evaluates legal issues and applies relevant legal principles to identify applicable defenses, pertinent arguments, and litigation strategies.
• Prepares briefs, legal memoranda, or statements outlining the issues involved in cases, including appropriate suggestions or recommendations.
• Reviews complaints, petitions, or motions that have been filed to ascertain the issues involved.
• Drafts responsive pleadings and correspondence as necessary.
• Assists and provides support to trial attorneys in the preparation of trial, mediation, and arbitration documents and binders.
• Attends court sessions, depositions, mediations, and trials to listen to oral arguments and document essential case information.
• A Bachelor's Degree is required.
• Must be a second or third-year law student with an interest in civil litigation, personal injury, or insurance defense.
