This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Honduras, +3 more states.
• Ensure availability and responsiveness during designated work hours
• Proactively identify and independently resolve potential issues when appropriate
• Communicate updates on task status, priorities, availability, and challenges
• Refine and enhance the firm's training playbook
• Adhere to security protocols to mitigate information security risks
• Provide trauma-informed legal assistance to clients
• Manage sensitive client and case information with confidentiality
• Monitor deadlines and ensure tasks are completed on time
• Draft professional letters and legal documentation
• Organize and manage calendars
• Schedule motion hearings as necessary
• Comply with firm procedures, training materials, and internal guidelines
• Assist the attorney with daily case management and administrative tasks
• Support light billing activities
• Keep case information and documentation well-organized
• Remind and ensure the attorney meets deadlines, appointments, and commitments
• Draft and file motions and various legal documents
• Monitor Connecticut judicial websites for relevant updates
• Obtain records and follow up on outstanding requests for records
• Working hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST
• Some flexibility in working hours may be possible
• Prior experience in a law firm is preferred
• Knowledge of civil litigation, education law, employment law, human rights, personal injury, or crime victim issues is advantageous
• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are beneficial, though Spanish is not mandatory
• Strong English communication skills with a clear, comprehensible accent are essential
• Comfortable managing highly sensitive, confidential, and potentially explicit legal information
• Able to engage with post-trauma discussions and sensitive evidence involving victims of serious crimes
• Awareness that the role may involve vicarious trauma
• Strong understanding of confidentiality, information security, and data protection
• Willingness to implement additional security measures, such as using a virtual machine if necessary
• Highly reliable and responsive during working hours
• Open and transparent about availability, workload, and task progression
• Strong judgment in handling confidential information and communications
• Numerical skills are advantageous for occasional billing tasks
• Required software proficiency: PracticePanther, WildX, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities
• Sharp attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Clear understanding of deadlines and task prioritization
• Trustworthy and discreet with sensitive information
