Language Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Norway.

📋 Description

• Employs established procedures to guarantee the timely execution of projects, which includes managing communications, project expectations, and payments with external providers of translation and interpretation services.

• Assists in the planning and coordination of interpretation services related to global Church broadcasts and significant local Church events.

• Balances the workloads associated with translation, interpretation, and production for the Norwegian Language Office through effective project coordination, encompassing file preparation, task allocation, and project oversight.

• Assesses the quality of translation, interpretation, and production work performed by both internal and external resources, focusing on linguistic quality, punctual delivery, and thoroughness, ensuring the final project files are delivered to the requesting entity.

• Collaborates with external translation providers for the purposes of onboarding, training, and maintaining relationships.

• Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Language Supervisor.


⛳️ Requirements

• Successful completion of the entry test administered by the Norwegian Language Office.

• A Bachelor's degree (preferably in linguistics, translation, or a related discipline) or an equivalent blend of education and/or experience with a significant level of expertise.

• Professional proficiency in writing, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and syntax of the Norwegian language, ideally at a native level.

• Previous experience in project management or a related area.

• Proficiency in spoken and written English, including vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and syntax.

• Awareness of Norway's history, culture, current events, customs, and values.

• Demonstrated abilities in project management, time management, interpersonal communication, coaching, problem-solving, and the capacity to perform under pressure.

• Capability to interact with both external and internal resources to ensure projects are completed promptly and in accordance with client specifications.

• Proficient in navigating localization industry and business management tools, web interfaces, reading briefs and instructions, including data entry, and file downloading and uploading.

• Ability to provide basic technical support to users of localization industry and business management systems.

• Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency with operating systems and Microsoft Office, along with a keen interest in modern AI tools.

• Understanding of Church doctrine, policies, and ecclesiastical structure.

• Foundational knowledge of word processing, graphic production, and best practices for language recording.

• Familiarity with computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools.
