This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Oversee SQL Server database environments utilizing monitoring tools such as PRTG, Azure Monitor, and various database monitoring platforms.
• Analyze system alerts, acknowledge incidents, and conduct initial triage and resolution according to established SOPs and runbooks.
• Supervise database instances, SQL Agent jobs, backups, and system performance metrics to guarantee optimal functioning.
• Implement database deployments using solutions like Azure DevOps, Redgate, DB Maestro, or other authorized deployment tools.
• Conduct regular database maintenance tasks including integrity checks, index maintenance, and backup validation.
• Confirm deployment results and ensure the successful completion of maintenance activities.
• Monitor and manage the health of Azure VMs and associated database infrastructure components.
• Perform database refreshes in lower environments according to established procedures.
• Refer complex issues regarding database performance, availability, or failures to Level 3 DBAs or client teams.
• Assist with service requests, incident tickets, and operational tasks while adhering to SLA timelines.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, address backlog items, and explore automation opportunities within the database platform.
• Participate in database-related projects as assigned.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in SQL Server database administration or support.
• Proficient understanding of SQL Server architecture, database health monitoring, and performance fundamentals.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as PRTG, Azure Monitor, or similar alternatives.
• Knowledge of database backup strategies, job monitoring, and maintenance plans.
• Experience with deployment tools like Azure DevOps, Redgate, DB Maestro, or equivalent.
• Capability to execute tasks based on SOPs and troubleshoot common database issues.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work within a shift-based support model.
• Preferred exposure to Azure-based SQL environments (Azure SQL, Managed Instances, or SQL on Azure VM).
• Basic scripting knowledge (T-SQL, PowerShell) is preferred.
• Experience in ITIL-based support environments is preferred.
• Previous experience in production support or managed services engagements is preferred.
