Kafka API Automation Tester

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks for:

• o Angular UI components and workflows

• o RESTful microservices

• o Event-driven systems utilizing Kafka

• o MongoDB data validation and integrity assessments

• Develop end-to-end (E2E), integration, functional, regression, and performance testing suites

• Create automated validations for Kafka producers/consumers and asynchronous workflows

• Validate microservice contracts and API interactions, including JSON/XML payloads

• Conduct database testing encompassing schema validation, data integrity, and performance evaluations in MongoDB

• Collaborate with developers during code reviews to enhance testability and quality

• Integrate automated tests within CI/CD pipelines

• Perform root cause analysis for defects and issues arising in production

• Develop and maintain testing documentation along with quality metrics dashboards

• Create detailed, reproducible defect tickets that include logs, screenshots, Kafka message payloads, and MongoDB query outcomes

• Link test cases and automation coverage to JIRA stories and acceptance criteria

• Execute structured manual testing for new features, edge cases, and complex workflows that are not yet automated

• Identify automation opportunities from manual test execution and transform them into automated test coverage

⛳️ Requirements

• Kafka Testing & Event-Driven Architecture knowledge

• API Testing experience – REST APIs & Microservices

• Test Automation expertise using Java, Selenium, Cucumber BDD, Karate Framework, and REST Assured

• Backend & Database Testing proficiency – Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, DB2

• Familiarity with CI/CD & DevOps Tools – Jenkins, Maven, Git/GitHub/GitLab

• Experience with API Tools – Postman, Swagger, SoapUI

• Knowledge in Logging & Monitoring – Splunk

• JSON/XML Payload Validation skills

• Strong expertise in Angular UI and microservices, including Kafka, API testing, and database interactions. Experience with Selenium-based test automation, Kafka messaging test automation, and Cucumber/Karate

• Practical experience with accessibility testing

• Demonstrated ability to create and maintain comprehensive test documentation

• Proficient in utilizing Jira and Confluence for defect tracking and collaboration

• Solid understanding of performance testing concepts

• Strong analytical skills to thoroughly understand business and technical requirements
