Junior Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage back-end services for Raidiam Connect, a trust control system for digital identity ecosystems.

• Implement new features and resolve bugs within server-side codebases using Java and Go.

• Oversee the process from refinement to implementation, automated testing, code review, and production deployment.

• Familiarize yourself with the team’s technologies and tools, gaining proficiency in both Java and Go.

• Responsibly utilize LLM-based coding assistants and take full accountability for your submitted work.

• Create and sustain automated tests, manage database migrations, and modify OpenAPI specifications.

• Actively participate in code reviews.

• Analyze defects and assist in diagnosing issues within deployed environments.

• Clearly and promptly escalate any issues that exceed your scope of work.

• Engage in planning and estimation sessions.

• Report on progress, risks, and any obstacles encountered.

• Collaborate effectively with product managers, UI developers, customer-facing team members, and operators in live environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in writing server-side code in at least one of Go or Java within a professional, academic, open-source, or significant personal project context.

• Proven enthusiasm and capability to become proficient in the other language, either Go or Java.

• Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL; able to interpret a schema, construct basic queries, and reason about data models.

• Comfortable working with HTTP and REST APIs.

• Integrates automated testing as a standard part of completing tasks.

• Regularly uses Git and is familiar with code review and continuous integration processes.

• Hands-on experience with LLM-based coding assistants, possessing the judgment to assess outputs and dismiss incorrect suggestions.

• Capable of taking well-defined tasks to production while communicating effectively with the broader team.

• Demonstrates a supportive and collaborative attitude towards teamwork.

• Proficient in written and spoken English.

• Familiarity with AWS or similar cloud services is preferred.

• Experience with Micronaut, Spring Boot, or other comparable JVM frameworks is advantageous.

• Knowledge of infrastructure as code, especially Terraform, is desirable.

• Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JSON Web Tokens, mutual TLS, or X.509/PKI concepts is advantageous.

• Experience with testing tools within the Java and Go ecosystems is a plus.
