Junior Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Participate in the research, development, and maintenance of software applications focused on mission objectives, backend services, APIs, data processing workflows, and analytical capabilities.

• Support the design of analytical solutions tailored to customer requirements.

• Improve existing analytical solutions concerning quality and performance.

• Combine data from various sources to establish a unified operational overview.

• Choose and apply statistical analyses and scoring metrics to assess algorithm effectiveness.

• Generate training and testing datasets from diverse sources.

• Execute data cleansing, validation, and ETL tasks.

• Create analytical reports and presentations for both internal and external audiences.

• Develop data visualizations for analysis, presentation, and end-user interface requirements.

• Conduct feature engineering, classifier optimization, event forecasting, and anomaly detection.

• Collaborate with external stakeholders to determine data science mission requirements.

• Document data science methodologies, outcomes, and strategies.

• Choose and apply machine learning algorithms.

• Diagnose issues, enhance performance, engage in code reviews and technical documentation, and work alongside engineers, data scientists, analysts, and customer stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Must possess an active U.S. Government security clearance.

• Capability to obtain CBP/DHS suitability clearance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field; 4 additional years of experience may replace the bachelor’s degree requirement.

• Proficient in Python and libraries such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, matplotlib, and scipy.

• Openness to working remotely or at a nearby Vantor facility and engaging through video calls.

• Experience with processing, cleaning, or analyzing time series and/or geospatial data.

• Knowledge of machine learning techniques relevant to time series and/or geospatial data.

• Strong foundation in statistics, including statistical testing, regression, and probability.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and HDFS.

• Preferred: Current Top Secret security clearance and/or CBP/DHS suitability.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Agile software development practices and tools such as Jira, Confluence, and git.

• Preferred: Expertise in spatiotemporal data, algorithm performance evaluation, data visualization, model feasibility analysis, algorithm development, machine learning algorithms, current industry trends, and deep learning technologies including Pytorch, Keras, and Tensorflow.
