This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Collaborate with senior Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to evaluate blood typing, crossmatching, and the compatibility of blood products.
• Perform research on transfusion medicine practices, focusing on the distinctions between the United States and other nations.
• Gather and organize data regarding blood collection, processing, storage, and distribution capabilities.
• Aid in the assessment of international blood supply chains by documenting strengths, weaknesses, and possible gaps.
• Assist in the preparation of reports on blood product compatibility, summaries, presentations, and relevant documentation.
• Review laboratory and program data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Coordinate with Department of Defense (DoD) military and civilian personnel to obtain information, clarify requirements, and monitor assigned tasks.
• Support meetings by preparing necessary materials, documenting discussions, and following up on action items.
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Medical Technology, Chemistry, Hematology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific discipline.
• Entry-level to two years of pertinent experience in clinical laboratory operations, transfusion medicine, blood banking, or related scientific support.
• Relevant internships, clinical rotations, or laboratory training may be taken into account.
• Experience in supporting DoD military or civilian clients is preferred.
• Basic understanding of transfusion medicine, blood typing, crossmatching, and blood product compatibility.
• Fundamental knowledge of blood collection, processing, storage, and distribution.
• Strong analytical and research abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
• Capacity to summarize scientific and technical information in concise written reports.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Capability to adhere to technical guidance, manage assigned tasks, and collaborate effectively with senior SMEs and program staff.
• Exposure to blood banking, clinical laboratory testing, or blood supply chain operations.
• Familiarity with military healthcare environments or the Armed Services Blood Program.
• Experience aiding in the preparation of technical reports, data collection, or scientific research.
