Junior AI/ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop conversational AI agents that engage with users, utilize tools and APIs, and seamlessly transition conversations to human agents when necessary.

• Create retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines leveraging approved information resources.

• Integrate AI agents with CRMs, ticketing systems, databases, and various messaging platforms.

• Design and manage APIs, including API gateways, authentication protocols, rate limits, and version control.

• Assist in the development of voice agents employing speech-to-text, large language models (LLMs), and text-to-speech technologies in both English and Spanish.

• Implement evaluations, automated testing, and safety guardrails to enhance accuracy, reliability, and security.

• Deploy and support solutions through continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), monitoring, and comprehensive documentation.

• Collaborate with engineering, customer experience design, and operations teams to transition prototypes into production-ready solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in software engineering or machine learning engineering; relevant internships and research experience are also considered.

• Proficient in Python and familiar with Git, Docker, and basic SQL.

• Experience with at least one cloud service provider: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

• Hands-on experience with an LLM API, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or Azure OpenAI.

• Proven experience in building an AI agent capable of calling tools or APIs, using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel.

• Expertise in constructing a RAG pipeline, which includes document chunking, embeddings, vector search, and retrieval tuning.

• Experience in developing and utilizing REST APIs, including authentication, rate limits, and versioning, with some exposure to API gateways.

• Familiarity with connecting systems via webhooks, SDKs, or message queues, such as integrating an application with a CRM or database.

• Understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including embeddings, train/test splits, and evaluation metrics like precision and recall.

• Proficient in written and spoken English and Spanish.

• Must reside in Colombia or Mexico.

• Strong foundational knowledge and relevant academic, internship, research, or personal project experience are encouraged.

• Nice to have: experience with speech AI or voice agent technologies such as Azure AI Speech, Whisper, LiveKit, or Pipecat.

• Nice to have: familiarity with MCP, Azure Logic Apps, or n8n.

• Nice to have: experience with CRM and contact center APIs, including Dynamics 365, Salesforce, or Zendesk.

• Nice to have: familiarity with LLM evaluation tools such as Langfuse or Ragas.

• Nice to have: cloud AI certifications or other pertinent technical certifications.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; resumes must be submitted in English.
