Junior AI/ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Create conversational AI agents capable of engaging with users, accessing tools and APIs, and seamlessly transferring interactions to human agents when necessary.

• Construct retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines utilizing authorized information sources.

• Integrate AI agents with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, ticketing platforms, databases, and messaging services.

• Develop and oversee APIs, including API gateways, authentication processes, rate limits, and versioning protocols.

• Assist in the creation of voice agents employing speech-to-text, large language models, and text-to-speech technologies in both English and Spanish.

• Employ evaluations, automated testing, and guardrails to enhance accuracy, dependability, and safety.

• Deploy and sustain solutions through continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), monitoring, and thorough documentation.

• Work collaboratively with engineering, customer experience (CX) design, and operations teams to transform prototypes into production-ready solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in software engineering or machine learning engineering; relevant internships and research experience are considered.

• Strong skills in Python along with familiarity with Git, Docker, and basic SQL.

• Experience with at least one cloud service provider: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

• Practical experience with an LLM API, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or Azure OpenAI.

• Experience in developing an AI agent that interacts with tools or APIs, utilizing frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel.

• Proven track record in building a RAG pipeline, which includes document chunking, embeddings, vector search, and retrieval tuning.

• Experience in creating and utilizing REST APIs, encompassing aspects like authentication, rate limits, and versioning, with some exposure to API gateways.

• Experience in connecting systems via webhooks, SDKs, or message queues, such as integrating applications with CRMs or databases.

• Comprehension of machine learning fundamentals, including embeddings, train/test splits, and evaluation metrics like precision and recall.

• Proficient in written and spoken English and Spanish.

• Must be based in Colombia or Mexico.

• Candidates with a solid foundational knowledge and relevant academic, internship, research, or personal project experience are encouraged to apply.

• Nice to have: experience with speech AI or voice agent technologies, such as Azure AI Speech, Whisper, LiveKit, or Pipecat.

• Nice to have: familiarity with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or integration platforms such as Azure Logic Apps or n8n.

• Nice to have: experience with CRM and contact center APIs, including Dynamics 365, Salesforce, or Zendesk.

• Nice to have: familiarity with LLM evaluation tools such as Langfuse or Ragas.

• Nice to have: cloud AI certifications or other relevant technical certifications.
