Junior AI/ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Create conversational AI agents that engage with users, utilize tools and APIs, and transfer conversations to human agents as necessary.

• Construct retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines using sanctioned information sources.

• Integrate AI agents with CRM systems, ticketing solutions, databases, and messaging platforms.

• Develop and oversee APIs, including API gateways, authentication, rate limiting, and version control.

• Assist in voice AI development by leveraging speech-to-text, LLMs, and text-to-speech capabilities in both English and Spanish.

• Utilize evaluations, automated testing, and guardrails to enhance accuracy, reliability, and safety.

• Implement and sustain solutions through CI/CD processes, monitoring, and thorough documentation.

• Collaborate with engineering, customer experience design, and operations teams to transform prototypes into production-ready solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in software engineering or machine learning engineering; relevant internships and research experience are valid.

• Strong proficiency in Python along with familiarity with Git, Docker, and basic SQL.

• Experience with at least one cloud service platform: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

• Practical experience with an LLM API, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or Azure OpenAI.

• Proven experience in developing an AI agent that interacts with tools or APIs, utilizing frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel.

• Experience in constructing a RAG pipeline, encompassing document chunking, embeddings, vector searching, and retrieval tuning.

• Familiarity with building and consuming REST APIs, including authentication, rate limits, and versioning, with some exposure to API gateways.

• Experience in connecting systems through webhooks, SDKs, or message queues, such as integrating applications with CRMs or databases.

• Understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including embeddings, train/test splits, and evaluation metrics such as precision and recall.

• Proficient written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.

• Residing in Colombia or Mexico.

• A solid foundational knowledge and relevant academic, internship, research, or personal project experience is encouraged.

• Nice to have: experience with speech AI or voice agent technologies, familiarity with MCP or integration platforms, CRM and contact center APIs, LLM evaluation tools, and cloud AI or technical certifications.
